Samtec's Q2™ connectors (QMS/QFS Series) were chosen by the SFF-SIG (Small Form Factor Special Interest Group) and VIA because of their unique rugged features not commonly found in connectors. Two new specifications were formed including the SUMIT Specification (or Stackable Unified Mezzanine Interconnect Technology) and Pico-ITXe. The Q2™ "SUMIT" connector at 15,24mm is capable of carrying PCI-Express®* signals and has a very small footprint. Two additional rugged features built into this generation 2 Q Strip® design product, which lends itself to industrial and military embedded designs, are the .045" wipe and the polarized mating features within the QMS/QFS Series connector body.
