PCB CAD Libraries

Samtec PCB libraries and footprints save designers hours of tedious, yet critical effort. In many applications, Samtec generated libraries allow true cut and paste application of package outline, text, and recommended solder pad data. At a minimum, they provide the designer with a significant head start in library generation by providing critical component information in an easily customizable format.

Samtec's full connector PCB libraries feature a complete part file incorporating footprint, schematic symbol, attributes, pin mapping/swapping, gate mapping/swapping, and alpha numeric pin names in a PADs format.

To review all of the PCB CAD libraries available in a PADS format for a specific Samtec product series that is released for sale, select the series name from the list below.

PCB Footprints

For optimal mechanical and electrical performance, connector pad designs often deviate from standard IPC designs. Typically, these critical dimensions are communicated to the PCB designer through traditional print drawings and data sheets. The designer must physically transfer this critical information from the data sheet into the footprint he is creating. The slightest error in this process can lead to major headaches when boards are fabbed and components are placed. With Samtec library parts, this critical translation is already completed, with the resulting footprint files checked against a known-good connector print.

Samtec offers a PADs ASCII file that can be imported into Altium Designer V5 and Expedition CAD tools. Samtec also has available a true Eagle library (version 5.11.0) and an Allegro 15.5 format library (a .DRA and .PSM file). There are also some native library files for formats such as Altium that were translated by a third party for Samtec; however, that company no longer supports these formats since these programs are capable of importing PADs ASCII files.

Our PADS library is not fully complete. If you do not see the product or software that you are looking for listed above, please contact our PADS Group with your request.

To import PADS ASII (.asc) files into Altium, use the instructions below:
Open Altium> File >Import Wizard > Next > PADS ASCII PCB (*.asc) > Next > the PADS ASCII File.

To ensure a product meets TS 16949, automotive, or any other specific standards, the product must be an ACD Series. Go to www.samtec.com/TS for complete details.
