Samtec's expanded
High Speed Cable Assembly systems ("Data Rate" systems) provide
flexible solutions to meet stringent signal integrity specifications on
a variety of centerlines and configurations. Samtec Data Rate cable systems
utilize high speed connectors, miniature ribbonized coax and twinax cables,
and transitional pcb's to achieve high performance cable assemblies.
Data Rate cable assemblies
are available on .8mm and .5mm pitch (EQCD
Series and HQCD
Series), in differential pair routings (EQDP
and HQDP
Series), in differential edgecard designs (EEDP
Series), and as J-TAG interfaces (HHSC
Series). The cable assemblies come in standard vertical or edge mount
terminations, and a variety of standard locking and latching options are
available for applications requiring rugged interfaces.
Data Rate cable assemblies
utilize low dielectric constant cable (k = 2.1), either in 38 AWG miniature
coax cable for 50O applications, or 30 AWG twinax cable for 100O differential
applications. These assemblies are available in cable lengths up to one
meter. Flex life for the 38 AWG co-ax exceeds 25,000 cycles, the bend
radii is a small 2.5mm or less, they offer low skew (< 5ps/ft differential
within a pair; < 20ps/ft single-ended) and superior EMI performance
(FCC Class A). Solder joints can be fully encapsulated for added reliability.
At 12" length,
in single-ended configurations, Data Rate cable assemblies are rated at
2.8 Gb/sec (EQCD
Series) and 2.32 Gb/sec (HQCD).
These ratings reflect the point where an insertion loss of -3dB occurs
with the cable assembly. These ratings do not represent the potential
maximum performance of these cable assemblies.
