In 2006, Samtec was issued an ISO 14001 certificate. The certificate was awarded through the International Organization for Standards which is an entity that promulgates worldwide proprietary industrial and commercial standards. ISO 14001 was first published in 1996 and specifies the requirements for an environmental management system. It applies to those environmental aspects over which the organization has control, as well as those which it can be expected to have an influence.

The ISO 14001 certificate is awarded to applicants who meet the following criteria:

• Implement, improve, and maintain an environmental management system.
• Assure conformance with its own determined environmental policy.
• Demonstrate environmental conformance.
• Ensure compliance with environmental laws and regulations.
• Seek registration and certification of its environmental management system by an external third party organization.
• Make a self-determination of conformance.
• Has environmental objectives, targets and goals.
• Make a commitment to continual environmental improvement.
